Career and Technical Certificates conferred at Northwest
Northwest Mississippi Community College held its 102nd Commencement on Friday, May 11. This year, approximately 850 students participated in the graduation exercises, according to the Office of Admissions and Records. Associate of Arts and Associate of Applied Science degrees as well as Career and Technical Certficates were awarded. Dr. Jimmy W. Abraham, vice chairman of Client and Business Relations at Cadence Bank, and retired associate vice president of Development and Alumni and executive director at Mississippi State University (MSU) served as commencement speaker at all three ceremonies.

The Career-Tech Honors List for the Spring 2014 semester at Northwest Mississippi Community College has been released by college officials. Those students completing 12 or more semester hours with a grade point average of 3.75 or better in a four-point system are on the President's List. The Dean's List includes students completing a minimum of 12 semester hours with a 3.50 to 3.74 average. Named to the Career-Tech Honors List are students who have shown outstanding progress in their field.

Northwest announces Outstanding Students
Faculty members at Northwest Mississippi Community College have named the college's 2013-2014 Outstanding Students, according to college officials.
One outstanding student is chosen by faculty for each major within a department. The student must attend full-time, and only one outstanding student may be chosen for each major. Outstanding students are named on Senatobia, DeSoto Center and Oxford Center campuses.

Northwest Nursing Division hosts pinning ceremony for graduates
The Northwest Mississippi Community College Division of Nursing held their pinning ceremony May 18, 2013 at the Trinity Baptist Church in Southaven, celebrating 63 students' completion of the Associate of Arts in nursing.
After a processional and invocation lead by Jessica Lynn Cagle, class secretary from Southaven, Dean of Nursing, Ellen Williams, welcomed attendees, presented the faculty and introduced the keynote speaker for the evening,Dr. Peggy Ingram Veeser, FNP-BC, FAA Director of Nursing at Christian Brothers University who offered the address to the graduates.
Williams awarded pins adorned with the Division of Nursing seal as Nursing instructor Denise Bynum presented each of the graduates to the crowd. Area students receiving pins include:

Northwest Nursing Students Collect Yoplait Lids For Cancer Research
Students in the Division of Nursing at Northwest Mississippi Community College began collecting Yoplait lids in October to redeem through the "Save Lids to Save Lives" program. Yoplait will donate 10 cents to Susan G. Komen for the CureA(R) for each pink lid redeemed by Dec. 31, 2011, up to $2 million. Area students involved in the project include:
